“Mental health problems don’t define who you are. They are something you experience. You walk in the rain and you feel the rain, but, importantly, YOU ARE NOT THE RAIN.” - Matt Haig

I believe that you already have everything you need to heal within you—I’m here to help bring it out.

Reduced-Cost Counselling

I understand that the cost of mental health care can be a barrier for many people seeking support. That’s why I’m committed to offering affordable in-person and online counseling services to make therapy more accessible.

I’m currently an Intern Counsellor at WestCoast Vitality, working toward completing the clinical component of my Master’s in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. I work closely under the supervision of a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Approved Clinical Supervisor to ensure the highest level of care.

As an intern, I use the most current, evidence-based techniques and continue to grow through workshops and seminars to deepen my knowledge and skills.

Therapeutic Approaches

I use a variety of therapeutic approaches, each designed to help you heal and achieve your personal goals. There are many treatment methods available for addressing mental health and emotional challenges, and I draw from several of them in my work. Below are some of the therapeutic approaches that inform my practice (click on each to learn more):

  • Attachment-based therapy focuses on understanding how early relationships and attachments shape emotional patterns, behavior, and connection styles in adulthood. By exploring your attachment history, we can uncover any patterns that may impact your relationships and personal well-being. This approach helps clients develop healthier, more secure connections by identifying and healing attachment wounds, improving emotional regulation, and fostering a deeper sense of trust and safety. In our work together, I will support you in recognizing these patterns and empower you to build stronger, more fulfilling relationships by cultivating emotional awareness and healing old wounds.

  • EFT, often referred to as "tapping," is based on the idea that negative emotions and psychological issues can be linked to disruptions in the body's energy system. By tapping on specific meridian points while focusing on the emotional issue, practitioners aim to restore balance and reduce distress.

EFT can benefit a wide range of individuals, including those experiencing anxiety, stress, trauma, or emotional challenges such as anger and grief. It’s also useful for those seeking personal growth, like enhancing self-esteem and confidence.

Farah is currently working towards her EFT certification.

  • Gestalt Therapy (GT) believes that we have all the answers within us, and it can help us to develop a greater sense of acceptance, of ourselves and of other people. As such, GT can help people to improve relationships, improve decision making and gain confidence. It is a useful approach for dealing with a range of psychological issues, including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). addiction, anxiety, tension and depression.

GT is a great option for people hoping to explore their internal selves in a freeing and creative environment, and looking for long term solutions to deep and complex issues.

Clients are often engaged in various intellectual and physical experiences, such as role-playing or artistic exercises, to promote self-awareness and enable positive change.

  • Mindfulness-Based Therapy helps clients develop greater awareness and presence in their lives by focusing on the present moment without judgment. Through mindfulness practices like meditation, clients learn to manage stress, reduce anxiety, and break free from negative thought patterns. This therapy is particularly helpful for those struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, or overwhelming emotions, as it teaches tools for self-regulation and emotional resilience. By cultivating mindfulness, clients can foster deeper self-awareness, improve mental clarity, and develop a greater sense of peace and well-being.

  • Somatic Experiencing (SE) works by helping individuals become more aware of the physical sensations and emotions they are experiencing. The counsellor may use a variety of techniques to help clients tune into their bodies, such as breathing exercises, meditation, or movement therapy.

In SE, clients are not asked to fully engage with traumatic memories and reactions which is more likely to keep them within their window of tolerance (where the client is able to function most effectively).

SE is particularly effective for individuals who have experienced traumatic events. In these events they have learned that their body is no longer a safe place and have therefore disconnected in the hopes of finding safety elsewhere. In somatic work you will learn how to come back home to your body and how to recreate a sense of safety.

  • Clients are encouraged to explore their spiritual beliefs, whether rooted in religion, philosophy, or a more personal spiritual journey. It helps people reconnect with their core sense of meaning, purpose, and connection to the universe or a higher power.

This type of counseling is holistic, recognizing the interconnectedness of our mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. Techniques such as meditation, visualization, energy healing, and mindfulness practices may be used to help individuals align with their spiritual truths.
